Bounce House vs Foam Party

Summer outdoor foam party event
Bounce House vs Foam Party

So, you’re planning an outdoor party for a kid’s event that you want to make truly memorable

for your family and friends. You may be wondering if you should stick to renting a tried-and-true bounce house or perhaps try one of those new foam Parties that you’ve seen pop up on social media sites. Well here is a list of considerations to help you decide:

1) Price Factor. Winner- Bounce House

Foam Parties and bounce houses are actually very similar in pricing. A good bounce house or

bounce castle after delivery and taxes will cost you about the same as a good foam party. The reason the bounce house wins here is because you typically get the rental for several hours whereas your typical foam party will last from 60- 90 minutes.

2) Excitement factor. Winner: Foam Party

I’ve seen this firsthand. We were hired by a town for a 2-hour foam party in a public park on Canada day and across the field there was a big bouncy castle. When the foam party started, all the kids in the park came running and screaming towards the foam party. There were hardly any kids in the bouncy castle while the foam party was happening. Kids love a bounce house, but there is a bit of a ‘been there, done that’ factor since bounce houses and bouncy castles have been around since the dawn of time. Foam parties are new, and on a gorgeous summer day with the sun glistening on stacks of clean white foam while fun party music is blaring, it’s hard to compete with a foam party for the excitement factor.

3) Widest appeal factor. Winner: Foam Party

A bounce House is geared for kids between the ages of 3 and 10. Kids under 3 years old haven’t developed the balance and dexterity yet to navigate a bouncy house safely, whereas Foam Parties are enjoyed by everyone. Adults carry their infants into the foam. Young toddlers play at the edges of the foam where the foam is not deep. Older kids play in the deeper foam and love being blasted by the foam cannon.  Adults enjoy the cool sensory sensation of being in the foam and feeling like a kid again. A lot of participants of all ages can enjoy a foam party at the same time, whereas a bounce house has a limit of a few young participants at a time.

 4) Safety Factor.  Winner: Tie

After a season of foam parties under my belt, I’m really impressed with the Foam Daddy foam solution we have been using for our foam parties. I have not had one single complaint about the foam hurting someone’s eyes or anybody being allergic. I have been at a couple busy festivals where a kid was throwing up because he inhaled or ate the foam, and I’ve seen kids get knocked over from other kids in the foam resulting in a scraped knee. With a bounce house, the idea is to jump and bounce which can result in collisions. This is why they put a low recommended limit on the number of kids allowed at a time. Both foam parties and bounce houses require proper adult supervision.

5) Variety of Options Factor. Winner-Tie

Foam Parties have options for colored foam, glow in the dark foam, and personalized song playlists. Bubble wands are included to add an extra level of engagement and beach balls are thrown in to add to the fun. Bouncy castles come in so many varieties of themes from Disney to Superheroes, and options including obstacle courses, slides, basketball hoops and more. Both offer a variety of party options.

6) Overall winner: You decide.

Kids love both! But if you want a party that your guests will be talking about for weeks and a party where tons of photos will be taken and posted all over social media, then a foam party would be the right choice.
